So our Master Bath needs a little "coastal-izing" and freshening up and lately I have been thinking about painting large scale horizontal stripes like these...
And this bathroom by Young House Love...

I think the beige and white will be nice with by open and airy house. I think the horizonal stripes are fresh and modern feeling, and stripes are always coastal feeling, right?
I also have a great little idea for the window over the tub, as well as some coastal artwork and accessories! I can't wait to get started and then show you the results on an upcoming "Makeover Monday"!

I have always loved the look of tan and white stripes!

I stumbled across your blog. I have been trying to decide my decorating style. I have bought a few living room sets and styles alos dinning rooms. Finally I realize that I love the cottage ocean look, except I have a homedaycare and lots of little kids running around. I love the white look but lots of color for accents. My quesion would be how can I incorporate this look although white is out of the question for sofas and chairs due to the work I do at home.
Also the dinning room table and chairs, where can I find this style of furniture? I have finally found my style through your blog... Thanks
By the way love your scripture verses.

Thanks for your comments and questions Zoe! I am so glad you like Starfish Cottage Style. Maybe you could go with simple white linen drapery panels (these get less dirty than upholstery). Then do a khaki slipcovered sofa with a few colorful throw pillows. Maybe look for chairs that are woven or rattan with white cushions that could be easily thrown in the wash. That would be a pretty coastal-look living room that might be more durable. My dining room furniture is a mix of vintage thrift store finds and catalog stores like Ballard Designs and Pottery Barn...I prefer a "collected" look over a matching set. Good luck to you!
