Our first Fun Family Dinner of this year was "New Year's Dinner"!
Here's what we did:
The Table Decor:
I wanted the table to feel special and sparkly, so I used a simple black tablecloth with white plates on silver chargers and white napkins. We also had stemmed glasses with sparkling lemonade for an extra-special treat! I used my vases with candles down the center and sprinkled gold and silver star confetti on the table as well as swirled a sparkly gold and silver garland around the candles. Little black and gold noisemakers and horns were a "hit" with the kiddos. (I spent a whopping $4 at the party store on these items!) The table was so dramatic and beautiful with all the candles lit up that night (my "nighttime photos did not turn out, sorry).
I was feeling a little lazy that night, so we actually heated up a big dish of frozen lasagna, tossed a simple salad and had some yummy yeast rolls. Like I said, very simple but very yummy!
That night we had some specific discussion topics like: What are your personal goals for 2013? Where should we go for our summer vacation? What family outings would you like to do this year? What could be a family service project for us?
It was a fun start to the year and the girls LOVED it! They asked- when are we doing our next Fun Family Dinner? What is the theme? Can we help?
Stay tuned to Starfish Cottage next Friday for our next Fun Family Dinner!
