This post could also be called, "Why My House Isn't Decorated for Christmas Yet"...
So, some of you may have noticed (to my dismay) that I have not posted any holiday decor photos yet, and that is because I was very late this year getting everything done...you will see why in this post.
Over the past week and weekend I was very busy decorating for our school's annual holiday Silent Auction/Casino Night fundraising event. Not only did most of my time and energy last week and weekend go into preparing for this event...but most of my personal Christmas decorations (wreaths, garlands, lights, etc...) were used as well! For these reasons, my house has been neglected until just recently.
I love to help with this event...it is always a special night and we always raise a TON of money for our school, so it's all for a good cause! This year, we decided to go with a sophisticated coastal theme (the evening is a "dressy-sit-down-dinner" type event.) Our color scheme was browns, golds and bronzes, and I would like to share a few photos with you.
The Entry/Check-In Table- (much prettier at night, however!)
We introduced the brown and gold color scheme and coastal theme here at the front door!
We gift wrapped boxes in brown and gold papers and ribbons, then accented them with holiday greenery, fresh cut palm leaves and golden starfish.
Some of our centerpieces were hurricane vases filled with seashells and surrounded by greenery.
Here was the outdoor bar...more hurricanes and a vase with sand and a palmetto stem.
We had 20 dining tables, alternating in brown and gold silk tablecloths, this color scheme worked well with the club we held the event in.
Behind the dance floor and dj table, we hung an enormous lighted wreath flanked by a pair of Christmas trees, all with gold ribbons and ornaments.
It was a lovely evening, but a lot of work! Now that all my decorations are back at my house, I have had some time to start decorating for myself and I am happy to report that I am almost done! I can't wait to share some 2012 Starfish Cottage Holiday decorating on this Friday's post (HINT- this year is NOT red and white, like last year...something NEW- YAY!) So stay tuned...
